About Steve Macomber
I spent my career making sure the right people could get in - and watched what happens when they can't.
For more than fifteen years, I've worked in federal cybersecurity and technology leadership, much of it on a single deceptively simple question: who is allowed to access what, and what breaks when the one person who knows is suddenly gone?
That question stopped being abstract for me when I started seeing the same pattern outside of work. A father passes away, and his family can't unlock his phone - so they can't reach the accounts, the photos, the instructions, or the people who needed to be told. A small business owner gets sick, and no one else can log into the systems the whole company runs on. Wills were written. Intentions were good. And everyone was still locked out.
The hard part was never a lack of information. It was that no one had mapped where access would fail before it failed. That's the gap Maco Strategy exists to close.
Background
I'm a senior technology and cybersecurity leader with an MBA from the University of Florida and an MS in Business Intelligence & Analytics. My career spans cybersecurity and governance, risk management, cloud security, program leadership, and digital transformation across large, complex organizations.
My wife and I also co-own Tailwind Behavior Services, an independent ABA therapy practice, so the realities of running a small business - managing people, risk, and the things only you know how to do - are not theoretical to me.
